STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Approve the requested route for the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay’s 28th Annual Lillian Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 8, 2018, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Widell Street, proceeding northeast on U.S. Highway 98, north on 6th Street, west on West Barclay, then south on Santa Piedro Street, back to the point of beginning. The parade is 1 ¼ miles long and will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete.

 

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office will provide security and the Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Division, will handle the road closure for this event.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date:  The Commission has received a request from Judy Wargo, Parade Chairperson for The Optimist Club of Perdido Bay to hold the 28th Annual Lillian Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 8, 2018, beginning at 1:00 p.m.  The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office will provide security for this event and the Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Division, will be responsible for the short time closure of Highway 98 in two locations where the parade route will cross over Highway 98.
