BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Previous Commission action/date:  N/A

Background:  On September 4, 2018, Watersheds located near Etta Smith Road and Turberville Lane suffered impairment due to significant rainfall. Securing these funds will allow Baldwin County to perform much needed repairs to prevent future damage to public roads and property.

The estimated construction cost to repair the Etta Smith Road head cut is $250,000.00. EWP funds, if awarded, will cover up to 75% (or $187,500.00) of the construction cost. The County’s construction match would be $62,500.00. EWP funds will cover up to $18,750.00 in design and Construction Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) costs (7.5% of construction). The balance of engineering costs will be borne by the County.

The Etta Smith Road location was on the April 19, 2018 and July 19, 2018 Road and Bridge meeting agendas to discuss the erosion issue with property owners and locate possible funding. No Commission action has been taken.
