Authorize the Purchasing Director to solicit a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Developing a Baldwin County Solid Waste Landfill Gas-to-Energy project.

ACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date:  N/A

 

Background:  The Baldwin County Solid Waste Department is requesting that a Request for Proposals (RFP) be advertised for companies interested in developing a landfill gas to energy project at the Magnolia Sanitary Landfill, an active municipal solid waste landfill in Baldwin County, Alabama.  The Solid Waste Department is seeking Vendors qualified to convert landfill gas (LFG) to energy. 

 

Per the Code of Alabama 1975, Section 41-16-140 to 41-16-144, prior to the Baldwin County Commission (or any government unit) entering into an energy cost saving contract to reduce energy consumption or operating costs of government facilities a formal Request for Proposals must be advertised.  Applicable code sections are attached to this agenda.
