Discuss whether the Commission will appropriate funds in the amount of $10,000.00 to The Gulf United Metro Business Organization (GUMBO) for their Tourism Economic Development Summit being held October 16-18, 2019, per their request dated July 31, 2019.

Background: GUMBO is a coalition of local business leaders, chambers of commerce, convention and visitors’ bureaus and tourism and travel organizations who are committed to the intelligent growth and development of south Baldwin County, Alabama. Their mission is to foster better communication between area business leaders and government officials at the local, state and federal levels to enhance the growth and sustainability of south Baldwin County and provide economic opportunity for the citizens.
This type of funding request falls under the State laws related to Amendment 750 and Amendment 772. Because of that, staff would need to create a Resolution for the funding and advertise the appropriation prior to it going to Regular Session. Therefore, if the appropriation is approved, this item would not go before the Commission in Regular Session until September 3, 2019. The approximate cost of the required legal ad is $104.00.
