STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

1) Adopt the Rebuild Alabama - Baldwin County Fiscal Year 2020 County Transportation Plan which includes the following projects:

 

County Road 9 - Widen and Resurface from U.S. Highway 98 to County Road 48

County Road 55 - Resurface from U.S. Highway 98 to County Road 32

Grantham Road - Resurface from County Road 26 to U.S. Highway 98

 

2) Approve the display of the County Transportation Plan in conspicuous places at the Baldwin County Courthouses, Baldwin County Commissioner offices, Baldwin County Highway Department, Baldwin County website and other places deemed appropriate by the Baldwin County Commission.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date:  N/A

 

Background:  Governor Kay Ivey signed the Rebuild Alabama Act #2019-2 into law on March 12, 2019. This Act amends the Code of Alabama 1975 and will be used for transportation infrastructure improvement, preservation, and maintenance projects pursuant to the provisions of the Act. The Alabama State Act levy’s an additional 10¢ excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel implemented over a three-year period.

 

Counties shall adopt an annual County Transportation Plan (CTP) no later than August 31st for the next fiscal year. The plan shall be approved by an affirmative vote of the majority of the members of the County Commission.

 

The County Transportation Plan shall provide a detailed list of projects for which expenditures are intended to be made in the next fiscal year. The detailed list of projects shall be based on an estimate of the revenues anticipated to be received in the fund during the fiscal year.
