BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Previous Commission action/date:
11/06/2018 meeting: 1) Approved the specifications and authorized the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the labor and incidental materials for the roof replacement at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Investigation Building located in Robertsdale, AL; and 2) Further, authorized the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required after the bid is advertised; and 3) Approved and authorized the Purchasing Director to issue a Purchase Order to Garland Company, Inc., in the amount of $71,325.00 but not to exceed $72,000.00 for the roofing materials which is being purchased off the U. S. Communities Contract.
12/18/2018 meeting: 1) Accepted the request from Porter Roofing Contractors, Inc., to withdraw their bid for the labor and incidental materials for the roof replacement at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Investigation Building located in Robertsdale, Alabama due to a mathematical error and return their bid bond per Code Section 39-2-11 (d) of the Alabama Public Works Law; and 2) Awarded the bid to the next lowest bidder, Carter’s Contracting Services, Inc., as per the attached Award Listing and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract. (Contract shall commence immediately upon the same date as its full execution and shall terminate upon either the expiration of no more than ninety (90) days after the notice to proceed is given.
Background: The Building Facilities Coordinator, Junius Long, is submitting for Commission approval, Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $16,001.36 for the additional work for structural modifications to the existing building that were required to install the new metal roof per code and warranty requirements. The original construction cost including materials was $227,518.31. Including Change Order No. 1, the new construction cost will be $243,519.67.
