Recommendation

Approve the removal of festival routes from Baldwin Regional Area Transit System (BRATS) effective immediately.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date: 

August 8, 2019 - Budget Deliberations, the Baldwin County Commission advised BRATS staff to move forward with the process of removing of festival service.

 

September 12, 2019 - Department Head Meeting, Matthew Brown, Director of Transportation announced public notice would be issued in the next few days.

 

Background:  On August 8, 2019 during Budget Deliberations the Baldwin County Commission advised BRATS staff to move forward with the process of transitioning away from festival service.  The BRATS staff then meet with all festival coordinators who they had previously assisted and provided different options for replacement service for their festivals.  September 12, 2019, Matthew Brown the Director of Transportation shared to the Commissioners in the Department Head meeting that BRATS would be publishing notice of a public hearing for the proposed changes in the next few days.  BRATS published notice on September 12, 2019 on its website.  On October 14, 2019, the public hearing was held and only Commission staff and Gulf Coast Media attended.
