STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Take the following actions:
1) Approve the creation of one (1) Assistant Landfill Supervisor position (PID #TBD) (grade K range: $39,220.48 - $64,274.08 annually) at the Magnolia Landfill (54300); and
2) Approve the promotion of Dillon Smith from the Solid Waste Technician position (PID #5231) grade G-09 ($16.195 per hour / $33,685.60 annually), at the Magnolia Landfill (54300) to fill the open Landfill Equipment Operator III position (PID #580) at a grade I-04 ($17.260 per hour / $35,900.80 annually) at the McBride Landfill (54330); and
3) Approve the promotion of Cody Wilson from the Solid Waste Technician position (PID #5247) grade G-02 ($13.620 per hour / $28,329.60 annually) to fill the open Solid Waste Driver I position (PID #5135) grade H-01 ($14.60 per hour / $30,368.00 annually) in Solid Waste Collections (54800); and
4) Approve the promotion of John Capers from the Solid Waste Technician position (PID #858) grade G-03 ($13.962 per hour / $29,040.96 annually) to fill the open Solid Waste Driver I position (PID #5132) grade H-02 ($14.967 per hour / $31,131.36 annually) in Solid Waste Collections (54800); and
5) Approve the promotion of James Qualls from the Landfill Equipment Operator IV position (PID #1096) grade J-14 ($24.240 per hour / $50,419.20 annually) to fill the Assistant Landfill Supervisor position (PID #TBD) at a grade K-13 ($25.996 per hour / $54,071.68 annually); and
6) Abolish the Landfill Equipment Operator IV position (PID #1096); and
7) Abolish the Solid Waste Technician position (PID #858); and
8) Approve the updated position description for Assistant Landfill Supervisor; and
9) Approve the updated organizational chart for Solid Waste.

Background: To ensure adequate supervision of the Magnolia Landfill, the Development and Environmental Director respectfully requests that the above recommendation is approved. Upon promotion of an employee into this position, the employee's previous position will be abolished.
