STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

 1)  Rescind the action taken by the Baldwin County Commission during the December 17, 2019 Regular Meeting, more specifically Agenda Item BJ3, approving the Chairman to execute correspondence to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) stating that Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office no longer wishes to utilize certain assets due to the high amount of expenses; and

 

 2)  Approve the Chairman to execute the revised correspondence to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) stating that the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office no longer wishes to utilize certain assets due to the high amount of expenses but are requesting proceeds from the sale of certain assests instead. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date:  December 17, 2019 and March 19, 2019

 

Background: 

During the March 19, 2019 Baldwin County Commission Meeting (Agenda Item IA3), the Commissioners approved execution of correspondence to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) authorizing the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to use certain DEA seized assets,

 

During the December 17, 2019 Baldwin County Commission Meeting (Agenda Item BJ3),

 

1)                     the Commission approved to rescind the action taken by the Baldwin County Commission during the March 19, 2019 meeting approving the Chairman to execute correspondence to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) authorizing the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to use certain DEA seized assets; and

 

2)                     Approved the Chairman to execute correspondence to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) stating that the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office no longer wishes to utilize certain assets due to the high amount of expenses.
