BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Previous Commission action/date:
12/17/2019 meeting: 1) Approved the specifications and authorized the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the Purchase and Installation of One (1) New 80 Ton HVAC Chiller at the Baldwin County Satellite Courthouse Located in Foley, Alabama; and 2) Further, authorized the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required after the bid is advertised.
02/04/2020 meeting: Awarded the bid to the lowest bidder, Lower Alabama Heating, Cooling and Refrigeration, LLC, as follows and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract. (Contract will be effective immediately upon the same date as its full execution after notice to proceed is issued.) Make/Model: Carrier 30 RAP Chiller; Amount Bid: $71,000.00; Completion Time: 90 Days.
Background: The Baldwin County Building Facilities Coordinator, Junius Long, is submitting to the Commission Change Order No. 1 with Lower Alabama Heating, Cooling and Refrigeration, LLC, in the amount of $3,121.80 for adding a salt resistant coating on the coils of the new chiller that is being installed at the Foley Satellite Courthouse. Adding the salt resistant coating to the coils will help extend the life of the chiller from damage by weather elements in the south end of the County. The original cost is $71,000.00 for the purchase and installation of the chiller. The new cost will be $74,121.80.
