BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Previous Commission action/date:  N/A

Background:  The goal of the Baldwin County Commission Management Fundamentals Program is to provide current County managers and future leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to create an environment where the Baldwin County Commission’s purpose and mission are lived on a daily basis.  The interactive class sessions provide each participant the knowledge and the ability to share ideas and methods to address real world concerns and challenges in the work environment.  At the end of this program, the participants gain the necessary skills to build a foundation as a successful leader for Baldwin County.

Despite COVID 19 restrictions this year, the above listed employees completed the program which consisted of over 20 hours of instruction on the topics of Group Dynamics & Team Building, Coaching and Motivation, Conflict Management, Progressive Discipline, Understanding Budgets, Performance Evaluations, Benefit Risk Management, and Behavioral Based Interviewing.

As we move ahead, we are excited to continue this program and also begin working on our strategic plan for developing our own leadership academy for County employees.
