BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Previous Commission action/date:
August 20, 2019 - The Commission took the following actions:
1) Adopted the Rebuild Alabama - Baldwin County fiscal Year 2020 County Transportation Plan which includes the following projects:
County Road 9 - Widen and Resurface from U.S. Highway 98 to County Road 48
County Road 55 - Resurface from U.S. Highway 98 to County Road 32
Grantham Road - Resurface from County Road 26 to U.S. Highway 98
2) Approved the display of the County Transportation Plan in conspicuous places at the Baldwin County Courthouse, Baldwin County Commissioner offices, Baldwin County Highway Department, Baldwin County website and other places deemed appropriate by the Baldwin County Commission.
July 7, 2020 - The Commission approved the Chairman to execute the Fiscal Year 2020 County Rebuild Alabama Contractor Report for awarded projects funded with County Rebuild Alabama Funds.
December 15, 2020 - The Commission took the following actions:
1) Approved the County Engineer to submit the Fiscal Year 2020 County Rebuild Alabama Certificate of Compliance verifying 100% of County Rebuild Alabama Funds for Fiscal Year 2020 County Rebuild Alabama projects were expended utilizing a contract; and
2) Make the Fiscal Year 2020 County Rebuild Alabama Certificate of Compliance part of the record.
Background: Governor Kay Ivey signed the Rebuild Alabama Act #2019-2 into law on March 12, 2019. This Act amends the Code of Alabama 1975 and will be used for transportation infrastructure improvement, preservation, and maintenance projects pursuant to the provisions of the Act. The Alabama State Act levies an additional 10¢ excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel implemented over a three-year period.
Counties shall adopt an annual County Transportation Plan (CTP) no later than August 31st for the next fiscal year.
The County Engineer shall present the FY 2020 County Rebuild Alabama Annual Report at the first Commission meeting in January. This annual written report shall provide each project’s status and detail expenditures made from the County Rebuild Alabama Fund and Federal Aid Exchange Fund. The written report shall be entered into the minutes of the County Commission and published on the County’s website.
