STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Approve the requested route for the 3rd Annual Fort Morgan Mardi Gras Parade on Sunday, February 14, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m., and ending at 2:30 p.m. and closure of roads (Ponce de Leon, Triple Tail Lane, and Bernard Ct. East) from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the event.

 

The Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department has volunteered to assist with traffic control and safety for the duration of the parade.

 

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has agreed to provide security for the event.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date:  January 21, 2020, Regular Commission Meeting - last BCC approval.

 

Background:  Commission staff has received a request from Gayle Pierce, Parade Organizer, for the Fort Morgan Mardi Gras Parade to hold its 3rd Annual Fort Morgan Mardi Gras Parade on Sunday, February 14, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m.

 

The parade route is 1.9 miles long and will take approximately an hour and a half to complete. It will require closing of Ponce de Leon, Triple Tail Lane, and Bernard Ct. East.
