ITEM TITLE

Title

Reestablishment of Red Hill Landfill as a Construction and Demolition (C&D) Disposal Site for North Baldwin County

Body

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Terri Graham, Development and Environmental Director, would like to discuss the following:

1) Establishing a Construction and Demolition (C&D) site for the north area of Baldwin County and include the relocation of the Bay Minette Transfer Station to the closed Red Hill Landfill site.

2) Applying for resources available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Solid Waste Management Grants program to aide in this project.

The USDA is accepting grant applications to reduce water pollution in rural areas by improving the management of Solid Waste. The program reduces or eliminates pollution of water resources by providing funding for organizations that provide technical assistance or training to help rural communities manage solid waste sites.
