STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Take the following actions:
1) Approve the requested route for the 2022 Alligators and Ale 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, October 1, 2022, beginning at Alligator Alley in Summerdale, Alabama at 8:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the same location; and
2) Acknowledge that alcoholic beverages will be consumed on the premises by attendees of the fundraising event.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: Commission staff received a request, dated July 14, 2022, from Mr. Mike Sledge with Central Baldwin Sunset Rotary Club Inc., for a route approval for the 2022 Alligators and Ale 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, October 1, 2022, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 9:30 a.m. The race begins at Alligator Alley, traveling down County Road 71 to County Road 48 and back, ending at Alligator Alley. There will be a 5K course and 1-mile fun run (detailed route description is attached). Proceeds from the special event will be donated to the Miracle League of Coastal Alabama ballpark under construction in Summerdale.
In 2017-2019, this annual event was attended by approximately 400 people and raised over $75,000.00 for the Miracle League of Coastal Alabama. The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office will provide security for the event pending Commission approval.
