STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Related to the Christmas Festival at Bicentennial Park Event, December 9-10, 2022, take the following actions:

1)  Approve the use of ten (10) large rolling garbage carts from the Solid Waste Department throughout the park for the event at a cost of $20.00 ($10.00 delivery fee, $1.00 per cart rental); and

2)  Approve Baldwin Regional Area Transit Systems (BRATS) to donate transportation services on December 9, 2022, and December 10, 2022, for four (4) hours each day, at a cost of $1,366.60 to transport attendees to and from their vehicles to the event site.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Felisha Anderson, Director of Archives and History/Special Historic Projects Coordinator has requested assistance from the Solid Waste Department for use of large rolling garbage carts and from BRATS for transportation services to transport attendees to and from their vehicles to the event site.

 

Events and activities hosted by the Archives and History Department serve to engage residents and visitors in community activities that educate, inspire, and entertain and is also an avenue for open communication and economic development.

 

Previous Commission action/date:  February 1, 2022 - Approved staff to coordinate/promote/host on-site, off-site, and non-standard hours events to include the Christmas Festival at Bicentennial Park.
