Approve an Agreement for Use of Property Granted to U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Readjustment Counseling Service which allows use of space in the Baldwin County Central Annex, located at 22251 Palmer Street, Robertsdale, Alabama, 2-4 times per month in order to expand access for Veterans needing counseling services.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  Staff received a request on April 3, 2023, from Christina Russo, Readjustment Counseling Therapist for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for office space(s) in Baldwin County used only to see clients who reside in the Baldwin County area. The closest center currently is in Mobile, Alabama and the drive to Mobile may be a barrier to accessing services for some.

Ms. Russo requests to use the Central Annex Small Conference Room 2-4 times per month, in order to expand access and remove barriers to care for the Veterans/Service Members in the Baldwin County area. Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that provide a wide range of social and psychological services, including professional counseling to eligible Veterans, service members, including National Guard and Reserve components, and their families (at no cost).
