Recommendation
Take the following actions:
1) Approve Change Order #1 with McElhenney Construction Co. LLC, for Project No. HW21154000 - Drainage Improvements on Leiterman Lane, Project No. HW21156000 - Drainage Improvements on Shoots Lane, and Project No. HW21151000 Drainage Improvements on CR-87; and
2) Authorize the Chairman to execute the Change Order in the amount of $34,026.00. Construction time will be increased by 10 working days.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: The Highway Department is submitting for Commission approval of Change Order #1 in the amount of $34,026.00 for Project No. HW21156000 - Drainage Improvements on Shoots Lane and Project No. HW21151000 - Drainage Improvements on CR-87. The Change Order will increase the construction time by ten (10) working days. During the backfill of the roadway for the Leiterman Road Box Culvert Project, an error in the plans resulted in the culvert parapet walls and wingwalls being constructed too short to accommodate the required shoulder side slopes. To remedy this, Change Order #1 includes costs to extend the parapet walls and wingwalls to lessen the side slopes and provide a replacement guardrail item to account for lengthened guardrail posts that are needed for the revised slopes.

10/18/2022 meeting: Awarded the bid for Project No. HW21154000 - Drainage Improvements on Leiterman Lane, Project No. HW21156000 - Drainage Improvements on Shoots Lane, and Project No. HW21151000 Drainage Improvements on CR-87 to McElhenney Construction Co., LLC, Bid Amount $1,748,268.72; Construction Time: 185 working days; and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract.
04/05/2022 meeting: Rejected the bid received for Project No. HW21154000 - Drainage Improvements on Leiterman Lane, Project No. HW21156000 - Drainage Improvements on Shoots Lane and Project No. HW21151000 - Drainage Improvements on CR 87 and authorized staff to re-bid at a later date.
12/07/2021 meeting: Approved the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the following Hurricane Sally FEMA Drainage projects: HW21154000 - Leiterman Lane -2@12’x6’ Culvert; HW21156000 - Shoots Lane - 3@10’x6’ Culvert and HW21151000 - CR 87 - 1@10’x8’ Culvert.
