BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: Bids opened in the Purchasing Conference Room on May 8, 2023, at 1:30 P.M. Three (3) bids were received. Bidder Jacky Jones Automotive, is an out of state vendor not registered with the Alabama Secretary of State as a foreign corporation to do business in Alabama as required by Code of Alabama 1975, Section 10A-1-7.01. The bid specifications stated an Expedition Max Platinum 4WD SUV model. Moyer Ford submitted bids that had several critical exceptions to the specifications. One (1) of Moyer Ford’s bids is for a Timberline Expedition model which is a heavy-duty off-road vehicle. The other two (2) bids submitted by Moyer Ford were for a Max XLT 4x2 and Limited Stealth 4x2, both did not meet bid specifications. Bid specifications required delivery time of 10 days or less. Moyer Ford’s delivery time on the XLT was estimated at 20 - 30 days. The lowest responsible bidder, who met all the specifications, was received from Johnson Ford, Inc., as per the attached award listing. Bid Tabulation attached for your review.
Funding for this vehicle will come from the Judge of Probate Discretionary Fund.
Previous Commission action/date:
04/18/2023 meeting: 1) Approved the specifications and authorized the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the purchase of one (1) new Ford Expedition or Equivalent for the Baldwin County Judge of Probate; and 2) Further, authorized the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required after the bid is advertised.
