STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Adopt Resolution #2024-098 authorizing an appropriation of $400.00 from the Historic Parks Fund to Historic Blakeley State Park to cover costs for a Civil War on the Eastern Shore Cruise in observance of Historic Preservation Month on May 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  In observance of Historic Preservation Month, Historic Blakeley State Park, in collaboration with the Archives and History Department, will conduct a Civil War on the Eastern Shore Cruise on May 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This Historic Preservation Month event will engage residents and visitors in education programs and community activities that will bring awareness to the Historic Blakeley State Park site.

Effective October 1, 2019, Act #2019-338 allows for expenditures for historic sites in Baldwin County as follows: At least ten (10) percent shall be expended for the Historic Blakeley Authority, and up to two (2) percent shall be expended for other historic sites in Baldwin County for the preservation, restoration, and interpretation of the site.

Total cost of recommendation:  $400.00

 

Budget line item(s) to be used:  742.23506 Historic Parks Fund
