BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  Vaughn Elementary School has been closed since 2009 and it has been determined that this site is no longer needed for educational purposes. The buildings are in disrepair and cannot be occupied or leased in their current state. The Commission has offered to partner with the Board of Education to assist with the disposal of any materials associated with the demolition in exchange for title to the property for the Commission to serve the needs of the local community. The current plans are to convert it into a county park for public recreation purposes.
