BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  In 2020, the Baldwin County Commission adopted a strategic plan. Under the strategic priority of growth and infrastructure balance, the events hosted by the Archives and History staff align with the strategic goal “By 2025, Baldwin County residents and visitors will experience the full development and marketing of Live Oak Landing and Bicentennial Park.”

Events and Festivals draw visitors to the area. The Olde Time Days event represents Baldwin County’s farming and logging industry.

Olde Time Days - Olde Time Days is a celebration of Baldwin County’s farming industry. National Farmers Day is observed on October 12th each year. A day for everyone to acknowledge the hard work that goes into feeding and supplying a nation. We encourage everyone to thank the farmers and to pay tribute in some way to the individuals who plow, sow, raise, feed, and harvest to provide the food and materials that our country needs to succeed.

October was chosen because it is after the traditional harvest times of many crops-back before cultivars and technology. This is the time of the year when farmers themselves would be able to join in the festivities because they would be done with the harvest.
